Osteopathy for athletes and artists

What is osteopathy for athletes? => More info

Sports osteopathy is an essential therapeutic approach for athletes, whether amateur or professional.

Athletes demand optimal performance from their bodies and often face injuries and joint and muscle overloads, which can limit their ability to excel. Thanks to targeted osteopathic treatments, you can quickly regain your level of performance while remaining healthy.

Osteopathy is a manual therapy which is based on a precise diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Osteopaths specializing in sports are trained to offer you holistic and precise treatment, ideal for preparing you for competitions or during your recovery time. They identify potential mobility restrictions that could lead to more serious injuries and also intervene after an accident or injury to help you with your rehabilitation.

Osteopaths work in collaboration with other health professionals to achieve rapid and lasting results (physiotherapists, nutritionists, sports coaches, sports doctors).

When to consult an osteopath?

If you suffer:

  • Tendonitis (Achilles, hamstrings, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis),
  • Joint or muscle pain (knees, shoulders, wrists, back),
  • Pain before, during or after a competition,
  • A decline in your sporting performance or stagnation in your sporting objectives,
  • Injuries (muscle tears, sprains, ligament ruptures) in order to promote better recovery.

Sports osteopathy aims to optimize your performance, prevent injuries and promote your recovery. With a personalized approach, your osteopath will analyze the specific constraints linked to your sporting discipline (repetitive movements, impacts) to offer you appropriate care.

What is osteopathy for artists? => More info

Osteopathy for artists is a specialized manual, preventive and curative approach, aimed at optimizing the physical health and performance of music, dance, singing and stage professionals.

What problems does osteopathy treat in artists?

Osteopathy treats musculoskeletal tensions, posture problems and functional disorders caused by repetitive movements, instrumental constraints or stage demands.

Osteopathy, through its holistic approach, fits perfectly into the care pathway of artists, offering them support adapted to their specific needs.

What are the specificities in the support of artists?

The osteopath will focus on the following points:

  • Breathing management: breathing is fundamental for all artists, whether they are singers, dancers or musicians or stage artists.
  • Breath management: Techniques for managing breathing during performances, reducing stress and anxiety.
  • Release of muscular tension: Relaxation of the muscles around the diaphragm and rib cage to optimize breathing and endurance.

    Posture optimization

Movement analysis and biomechanics are essential to preventing injuries. Interventions include observation of movements specific to each discipline to identify points of tension, restoration of joint range and optimization of coordination by working on proprioception and balance to improve overall performance.

How does a session with an artist take place?

The osteopath carries out a detailed history taking into account artistic practice, work habits and medical history, as well as the artist’s objectives. He/she will then perform a clinical examination and use specific manual techniques to release mobility restrictions. The objectives of osteopathic treatment are to optimize lifestyle and physical recovery, manage stress, improve ergonomic comfort and maintain the functional balance of artists.

What techniques are suitable for singers, wind musicians and actors?

Osteopathy aims to optimize the vocal instrument by releasing tension in key areas such as the diaphragm, jaw, larynx, spine and perineum.
The osteopath will be interested in the following areas:

    • Posture management: Correction of imbalances to free the larynx and rib cage and pelvis
    • Respiratory rehabilitation: Improvement of the mobility of the diaphragm and the intercostal muscles and the perineum for better breathing support.
    • Treatment of vocal strain: Relief of tension in the throat (larynx) and neck (cervicals and jaw) to avoid chronic vocal problems (chronic laryngitis, nodules)

What are the objectives of supporting dancers?

Osteopathy focuses on optimizing performance and preventing injuries related to intense repetitive movements by concentrating its work on the following objectives:

    • Improvement of biomechanics: Relief of musculoskeletal tensions by working on fascia, muscles and joints to streamline movement in cases of acute or chronic pain.
    • Performance improvement: Optimization of amplitude, flexibility, center of gravity and proprioception.
    • Prevention of injuries (muscle tears, tendonitis, sprains) through regular monitoring.
    • Analysis of lifestyle: diet, sleep, fluid intake.

Stéphane Kaczorowski

Osteopath
kaczorowski@osteo7-7.ch
Born in Grenoble in 1987. He has always been attracted to the world of health care and was convinced from an early age of the relevance of direct and remote mechanical, neurological, and vascular action in the prevention and treatment of various functional disorders as a complement to the classic allopathic approach. It was natural for him to turn to complementary therapies, and more particularly osteopathy, after a year of richly instructive medical studies After graduating from the Institut Supérieur d'Ostéopathie de Lyon-Limon Est in June 2012, he immediately started practicing as a freelancer in Grenoble before his life project and his passion, hockey, led him to the French-speaking part of the country. This is how he joined the Osteo 7/7 team in 2016 to bring his energy, his good nature, and his usual joviality. The combination of his professional practice and his personal pleasure in coaching sports teams (mainly ice hockey and inline hockey) of all levels (from the 4-year-old beginner to high-level athletes such as the French Inline Hockey team or the Ours de Villard de Lans team playing in the first division of French Ice Hockey) has led him to develop a pragmatic osteopathy, using the tools at his disposal (articular, myofascial, fluidic, DeJarnette techniques, etc.) most adapted to the immediate needs of the patient in order to allow a return to play / to normal activity as quickly as possible, without omitting in-depth work to reduce the occurrence of these disorders. Osteopath graduated from the Sutherland Osteopathic College in Strasbourg since June 2024. Born in 1991, passionate about motorcycles and sports, an epicurean in food and spirit, and curious about new discoveries. I am a bringer of change and do not shy away from challenges. Osteopathy is a second life, a choice. I had to abandon everything to start again. Originally from Alsace, with experience in corporate security and risk prevention, but also around ten years as a volunteer firefighter. My previous experiences have allowed me to develop listening skills and the ability to adapt while ensuring effective continuous improvement. Knowing how to question oneself is essential, it allows us to move forward in a fairer and stronger direction, but above all to do it together. A good therapeutic relationship with you is essential. A relationship of trust and transparency for quality support. I use a range of techniques adaptable to each patient, ranging from myofascial to structural, visceral or cranial treatment. Knowing the importance of progressing and training in order to increase the possibilities and effectiveness of my sessions, it is not a question of remaining on what I have learned, but of evolving into new practices. While waiting for more in-depth training in the pediatric field, I prefer to avoid children under 3 years old for the moment. Book online Make an appointment
